Tips for writing the Exams:-

You have to keep in mind that you are writing for the examiner, not for yourself. So write in such a way that examiner could understand what you want to say.

  • Give numbering to all the answers clearly else examiner might skip the answers.
  • You need to maintain full concentration when you read the question paper. Think for a min and then start writing.
  • Your handwriting should be neat, clean and leave margin after completion of an answer which makes a good impression.
  • Start new answers on a new page to avoid any confusion.
  • You should have to maintain the words limit according to marks allotted for each question.
  • During the exam, a single distraction can make you lose your marks.
  • Cross any blank pages left for writing answers later.
  • You can underline main keywords in your answer.
  • Write the answers professionally using technical terms rather than basics and to the point answers.
  • During exam time if you find that the paper is tough no need to get panic because it is difficult for all other students too. Whenever the paper is tough then checking is lenient and vice versa.

How is marking done?

  1. Whenever the paper is tough, then the checking is lenient and vice versa.
  2. For practical papers: there is a stepwise marking. But if you have made a conceptual mistake in the answer then you will get no marks in that.
  3. ICAI treats every question differently and it usually does not happen that continuous wrong answers will not give you full marks for the next one.
  4. Theory papers: it’s all about covering most of the points and being holistic in your thinking while writing about the answers. You have to write and think from every angle about the situation and scenario of the question for papers especially audit and Law.
  5. They will surely give you marks if you deserve it. They generally do not deduct marks unnecessarily (unless you have made serious conceptual mistakes in multiple answers).
